Reporting a problem

A clear report is the fastest way to get something fixed. These details help most:

• The page or tool you were using, such as the document scanner, Inspect Text, or a named calculator program.
• What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. Copy the exact wording of any error message.
• For a scan, the file type and roughly how many pages or sheets it has, and whether the report said it was partial.
• For a calculator program, the program name, the values you entered, and the answer you expected.
• Your device and browser, if the problem is about how a page looks or behaves.

Before you write

Many questions are already answered on the site:

• How scans work and what the scanner does not check: Methodology.

What I can and cannot help with

I can help with how the site and its tools work, mistakes in a guide or a program, accessibility problems, and ideas for new tools or calculator programs.

I cannot review a specific document for you, decide whether a finding means someone did something wrong, or give legal, academic-integrity, or security advice about a particular case. A finding is a reason to look more closely, and the decision belongs to you and to your school or workplace.
