Built by a student

Made for clearer documents

Hidden Word Scanner is an independent student project by Bradley Shoemaker. It started with a simple idea: students should be able to understand what is actually inside the files they receive, use, and submit.

“Student project” describes its independent creator, not a school affiliation. No school or university sponsors, operates, reviews, or endorses this website.

This project turns difficult-to-see document evidence into findings that people can review, explain, and discuss.

Document transparency

Documents should not contain invisible surprises

A file can contain text or instructions that are not obvious when you open it normally—from hidden Word formatting and spreadsheet sheets to PDF text layers, comments, metadata, and zero-width characters.

For students, these elements can affect AI tools, automated review systems, accessibility software, and academic-integrity investigations. Hidden Word Scanner helps you inspect the evidence before submitting, sharing, or relying on a file.

The scanner does not write assignments or bypass plagiarism detection. Findings are review signals, not proof of intent, and a clean scan does not guarantee that a document is safe.

Before you submit or share a document

Made with student life in mind

Useful before the deadline—and after questions come up

01

Before submitting

Check a paper, spreadsheet, or PDF for forgotten comments, hidden content, and document properties.

02

When using a provided file

Understand whether an assignment or reference document contains instructions that are not visible in its normal view.

03

When something is questioned

Preserve the original, export reviewable findings, and bring evidence—not assumptions—to the conversation.
